Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using TraceTrellis (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Service Description

TraceTrellis is an open-source intelligence (OSINT) aggregation tool that queries publicly available data sources on your behalf. We do not create, own, or control the underlying data — we retrieve and present information that is already publicly accessible on the internet.

3. Account & Registration

• You may register one account per person. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent limits is prohibited.
• You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
• You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Credits & Payments

• Premium features are unlocked using credits purchased as one-time packs — there is no recurring subscription.
• All credit purchases are final and non-refundable except where required by applicable law.
• Credits do not expire.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. By purchasing credits you also agree to Stripe's terms of service.

5. Acceptable Use

Your use of the Service is governed by our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Prohibited uses include, but are not limited to: harassment, stalking, doxxing, and illegal surveillance of individuals.

6. Data Sources

TraceTrellis aggregates publicly available data. We do not store personal data about third parties beyond what is transiently returned by data sources during an investigation. Results are stored in your account for your reference and are not shared with other users.

7. Service Availability

The free tier is provided without any uptime guarantee. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT THE DATA RETURNED WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DATUMTRAIL'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR CREDITS IN THE THREE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice, if we determine that you have violated the Acceptable Use Policy or any other provision of these Terms. Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease and any remaining credits will be forfeited without refund.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will indicate the date of the most recent revision at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the applicable jurisdiction. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that jurisdiction.
